Coordinator Father, we thank you for this almost perfect day here in Haliburton Forest and for this great opportunity to come out and really enjoy the wonderful beauty of this world you have given us in which to live. We also thank you that you are always inspiring us to try to feel really alive by challenging ourselves on these great battlegrounds of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual. Holy God, look favourably upon our undertakings today and guide and protect each and everyone involved here. Help us especially not to take your name in vain if we get lost, or stumble, or when the going gets a little tough, nor curse the name of the Race Director, unduly. Lord, we also thank you for all those who have made this day possible: the volunteers and people of this park. And make us especially mindful of all those who have enabled and freed us to be here today, our friends and family. And finally, we call to mind all those who have gone before us, who have inspired us by their example and who by their sacrifices have laid the foundations of our sport. This year, I remember especially Dave Sanders, the track and field coach at Columbine High School whose incredible bravery and careless disregard for his own safety saved so many lives while others ran and hid.* Let us take a moment in silence to remember those who have meant the most to you and whose influence has led you here today.
