3rd Annual DAMN TUFF RUFF BLUFF RUN 50 & 25 KM  Saturday, July 24, 1999 Harrison Park Owen Sound, ON

Race day forecast on Friday called for hot and sunny weather...and it was.  The trails were in good condition (dry) and the trees provided a lot of shade.  With the 25K division added this year, close to 100 runners participated, almost double the number from last year!

Up front leading the 50K was Victor Hickey from Meaford with Scott Turner from London in hot pursuit.  Vic prevailed for the win and a new course record, 19 seconds faster than his '98 time in 3:37:35.  Scott came 2nd in 3:44:27.

In the 25K, Scott Vining from Owen Sound led the entire field for the first two loops of the 12.5K course. He crossed the finish line first in 1:38:51, well ahead of Allan Magi of Dundas in 1:49:08.

Monica Scholz from Jerseyville won the women's 50K race by over 3 minutes in 5:42:09 ahead of Kitchener's Kelly Dever in 5:45:32.  Third went to Paula Stuhlmacher also from Kitchener running 6:10:17 in her first ultra.

In the 25K, local runner Connie Jackson from Allenford ran away with the female title in 2:12:41.  Shiraz Kapadia  from Toronto was runner up in 2:19:14, just one second ahead of Owen Sound's Jane Callaghan!

Over 20 females competed in both events.

Hans Maier, 60, from Markham won the oldest finisher award in the 50k. Odino Soligo, 78, only ran 25k this year.
